MDAI may act upon the serotonin transporter molecule or may act as a direct ligand for the serotonin receptors. Based on this, it would be useful for researchers to use it ‘in vitro’ to better understand the action and modulation of serotonin upon the transporter of receptor.
This could be done by placing MDAI on a synthetic membrane integrated with serotonin transporters and receptors to measure and completely profile its efficacy and affinity.
MEOP also has DRI action which gives strength to SERT molecules. MDAI may be utilised by researchers who wish to use it as a reference sample for their GC/MS, FTIR or NMR analysis catalogues.
For long term storage, we suggest that MDAI be stored at -20°C. It should be stable for at least two years.
MDAI is supplied as a white crystalline solid. MDAI is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, DMSO, and dimethyl formamide (DMF), which should be purged with an inert gas. The solubility of MDAI in ethanol and DMF is approximately 23 mg/ml and approximately 14 mg/ml in DMSO.
Further dilutions of the stock solution into aqueous buffers or isotonic saline should be made prior to performing biological experiments. Ensure that the residual amount of organic solvent is insignificant, since organic solvents may have physiological effects at low concentrations. Organic
solvent-free aqueous solutions of MDAI can be prepared by directly dissolving the crystalline solid in aqueous buffers. The solubility of MDAI in PBS, pH 6.8, is approximately 5 mg/ml. We do not recommend storing the aqueous solution for more than one day
